That was a mistake, as the firmware update turned the multiregion player into a single region player. Have to give kudos to AVC as they were very responsive and proactive in fixing the problem, and got me a replacement unit. The replacement unit works great, and picture quality is also very good. So, good player, and good seller. It was enough for me to request a cancellation of the item. I received a response quickly, assuring me that the player would work on my NTSC-only television and that I could return it for a full refund if it did not work as expected. I ordered the item on a Friday, it shipped that day and it arrived the following Tuesday.So far, I have experienced ZERO problems playing the only Region 2 DVD that I currently have and five Region B blu-rays (which I initially ordered because they were supposedly Region Free...). I spot-checked all six discs and they all played perfectly. Fast-forwarding, playing random scenes and watching entire bonus features resulted in zero problems.
